“High” Vincentian attendance at Royal Wedding

2 05 2011

Vincentians attended the wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton.

While millions worldwide tuned in to the televised nuptials of Prince William and Kate Middleton (now the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge), 12 Vincentian nationals were fortunate enough to be present in Westminster Abbey on Friday for a bird’s eye view of the historic event.

According to Prime Minister Dr. Ralph Gonsalves, this meant that St. Vincent and the Grenadines had the highest attendance of nationals at the ceremony in relation to its population size.

PM Gonsalves made this claim at a meeting hosted by the SVG High Commission in conjunction with Bucks University, which took place in High Wycombe. The Prime Minister last addressed an audience in that region in 2008.

Those in attendance were: PM Gonsalves and his wife Eloise, Governor General Sir Frederick Ballantyne and his wife Sally-Ann, SVG High Commissioner His Excellency Cenio Lewis, managing director of the Mustique Company Brian Alexander and his wife, owner of Basil’s Bar Basil Charles, and villa rentals manager at the Mustique Company Jeanette Cadet.

There were also three other Mustique Co. employees who attended – the head masseur, the tennis coach and the horse trainer.
